Amazon’s Kid Focused Glow Device
With the first Prime Day deals booming, Amazon has reduced one of its niche devices for Prime members. The Glow, Amazon’s interactive video calling and projector device, dropped to before Prime Day, 55% less than the normal price. This is also the best price we have seen for the Gadget since it was widely distributed in the United States earlier this year.
The unique device combines an 8-inch LCD screen with a projector that creates a 19-inch touch surface in front of it. In this way, children can play games via the projected touch screen while chatting with parents or other relatives via video chat, who can also see the children’s play area and activities. Matures can also participate in the games via their own smartphones or tablets. The Glow also comes with an Amazon Kids+ subscription, which includes a number of compatible games for the device.
Certainly a niche device, the Glow could be a good solution for parents who don’t mind their children playing digital games, but who bring something more interactive than what a Standard tablet could offer. Children can interact with things like digital story books with animations, card games, puzzles, and much more, and create digital art. The glow also works with Tangram Bits, which are body pieces that allow children to solve digital puzzles projected by the device in front of them.
The Glow is probably a bit difficult to sell at its normal price, but Prime members may find it more tempting to sell it like that. It’s currently more affordable than pulling out a Fire HD 10 Kids Pro tablet, but that could change if you’re already willing to wait until day one when it’s likely that most of Amazon’s kid-centric tablets will also be discounted.
